Kathia von Roth

Kathia von Roth is theater director, gaming activist and expert for participatory structures. During her studies at the Theaterakademie Hamburg she developed a improvisation technique based on gaming rules that gives the possibility of a formal repeatability of performances without the content. After finishing her studies, she worked on Hallo Festspiele, a participatory festival for urban development in Hamburg. In 2015, she founded “Spieleberatung” in association with artists, which is an analog game development lab with which she was on tour in 2016 in Germany and Switzerland. Her performative formats are between art, game and activism. They counteract systematic isolation while conveying trust and the potential of collective processes.
