Since he passionately played for over 25 years, no one was that surprised that Lutz Schröder devoted extensive time to them in his studies of the historical sciences at the University of Hamburg. His master’s thesis of 2011 was just one level he had to overcome on his way to the final boss, his PhD thesis. In it, he develops a comprehensive cross-disciplinary model to analyze the medium. After popular series like Deus Ex, GTA, Mass Effect and The Witcher, he recently discovered the joy of games outside of the mainstream, among them Life is Strange, Ori and the Blind Forest and Valiant Hearts. After various occupations, he found his way to Bytro Labs in 2015 where he, among other things, creates maps for online strategy games.
