Carola Veit was born in Hamburg and is a registered jurist. Since 1991 she is member of the SPD and chairperson of SPD Rothenburgsort. Moreover, she is a member of the labor union ver.di, the Arbeiterwohlfahrt and the FC St. Pauli among others.

Since March 2011 she is president of the Hamburgische Bürgerschaft.
