In this workshop, participants tinker and build their fantasy-monsters from everyday life items and let them come to live as Makey Makey controllers.

It’s not only about being monstrous, but creating a controller that actually works. Who manages to do both and makes the best monster of all times? The competition is on and it will show, who deserves to be the real Dr. Frankenstein.

This Workshop will be in German.

It is a game about struggling with your inner monsters and overcoming your loneliness. As a very personal project of Jo-Mei Games’ creative director Cornelia Geppert it is tackling issues of mental health.

The game follows the premise “when humans get too lonely – they turn into monsters.” This is what happened to Kay, a young woman awaking in a stormy ocean. She embarks on a journey to find out what happened to her, encountering other monsters, who – like her – suffer from loneliness.

Sea of Solitude is often complimented for its art-style as well as their monster designs. The reasons why so many things with the designs of its world and characters seem right is that there is meaning and intent behind everything.

The impulse is a look beyond the explicit narrative and a presentation of Jo-Mei’s implicit design decisions.

The impulse will be held in English.

For this we have searched your ideas, projects and topics around the game culture. The feedback has been fantastic and right now we can introduce you to the program: a colorful mix of innovative, amazing and controversial ideas and topics.

The Speakers’ Corner will take place on November 15 and 16, 2019, from 9 am to 7 pm at the Marx in the Festival Center in the Markthalle. Each speaker has 15 to 30 minutes maximum to enter our small stage and discuss with the audience.

The submission deadline for your suggestions has expired, but with luck we can award a few more slots on site. Come with your ideas just past the festival headquarters and get in touch with the info counter. To the conditions of participation.

The Speakers’ Corner will be moderated this year by Jonas Bornmann and Mats Sharma.
