Alexandra Schmidt is doing her Master’s teaching degree at the University of Hamburg right now with English and Biology as her main subjects. Before she enrolled in media engineering at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. The change of subject didn’t distract her from her enthuasiasm in audio-visual and digtal media. She’s mostly interested in the experimental application of audio-visual or digital media in diverse areas of school education. Within the film project “Film dir einen!” she had the opportunity to gather first-hand experiences in implementing audio-visual media in schools – now it’s onto the digital fields.

Regarding games, her favorite ones are old school point-and-click adventures like “TKKG” and “Pilot Brothers”. By participating in the projects of the Intiative Creative Gaming she hopes to get some input for transferring games to school classes.

Andreas Hedrich

As the initiator and spokesperson of the Initiative Creative Gaming, Andreas Hedrich has been pleading for the creative use of video games in education and to make digital gaming culture visible and come alive. He teaches media eduaction and active media relations at the Faculty of Education at the University of Hamburg. Furthermore, he is chairman for Mediennetz Hamburg e. V., member of jaf – Verein für medienpädagogische Praxis Hamburg e. V., speaker of GMK-Landesgruppe Hamburg and associate of Frische Medien. As media pedagog and media producer it is important for him to be responsible for projects that highlight the creative use of media and their ability to be used by everybody as a medium for communication.

If asked what his favorite game is, he answers “Riding a bicycle in my head”.

Carina studied cultural sciences at the University of Koblenz and culture and media management at the University of Music in Hamburg.

During times, when she isn’t entertaining her own offsprings, she is carrying out media and cultural pedagogic projects with children and youths in Hamburg. Her favorite games are strategy games like “Anno” or “SimCity”, if she finds any time besides her duties.

At PLAY17 she is responsible for the festival team and supports the organisation of the Festival HQ. Furthermore she is organising the open workshop stations.

Christiane Schwinge

Christiane Schwinge holds a degree in pedagogy and works as a freelance media pedagog in different areas of education. She is founding member and speaker of the free and nonprofit Initiative Creative Gaming, thus she campaigns for the creative, reflected and critical use of digital games. Since its opening in 2015, Christiane is part of the direction of the ComputerSpielSchule Hamburg, an open and media pedagogic institution for adolescents and adults taking place in Bücherhallen Hamburg, the public libraries of Hamburg. Besides, she works as a lecturer at different universities. Since 2016, she also coordinates the MINTforum Hamburg.

Among her favorite games are “B.U.T.T.O.N.”, “Octodad” and “Mimics”, because they are equally silly, funny and unplayable.

Christina Kutscher

Christina Kutscher studied English and German and is soon about to start her Master degree. Besides she is an editor, media pedagogue and writes on her blog keingame.de. At PLAY17 she is responsible for the Creative Gaming Award an the excursions.

She has many favorite games, especially those that are creative, have a well written story or simply are a lot of fun like “Terraria”, “Mirror’s Edge”, “Final Fantasy IX” and “Life is Strange”.

Claudia is one of the co-founders of PLAY and the Initiative Creative Gaming. She loves the festival and everything it comes with. She doesn’t play that much, but her favorite games are the “Kim Kardashian game” and “Orwell” (well Osmotics, you never thought of being mentioned in one sentence with Kim Kardashian, right?). Claudia is responsible for our great Instagram account.

Jakob Kopczynski is co-founder of the Initiative Creative Gaming, member of jaf – Verein für medienpädagogische Praxis and lecturer at HAW Hamburg.
At PLAY17 he is responsible for the production and technical coordination of the PLAY on Stage vents.

Favorite game forever: “Boulder Dash”, followed closely by “Pong Invaders”.
