The art of mixing an interactive medium with the visual style of a movie is entering new ground: Directing, acting and producing machinimas can be done by a one man army in realtime and is therefore only bund to imagination. Join the Berlin-based Night of Machinima for a fun showcase of recent works through a diversity of topics, techniques and culture!

The evening is hosted by Katja Hofmann from Halle (Saale).

Note: The poetry slam is held in German.

The midday show of our machinima-cinema features professional productions, game culture, and creations developed in workshops of the Initiative Creative Gaming. Those movies where done by participants in schools and are ether classical machinimas or a symbiosis of real and digital. Sometime strange, sometimes very open for interpretation – they are always creative and engaging.

The festival organizers provide an outlook for the next four festivaldays that will be full of emotions and digital game culture. Following is a welcome by the partners: President of the Hamburg Parliament Carola Veit and the President of the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) Thomas Krüger.

We also welcome the organizers of Indie Gameleon who finish their five-day festival for Indie Developers, Game Design Students and Games Enthusiasts this evening.

Subsequently, the exhibition will be opened at 8pm in the Alsterdamm School of Visual Arts and a very first look at selected works of digital games and media art can be thrown thrown.

In the last program of the evening, the inventor of video games and member of the band Fraktus Torsten Bage will have a look on the cultural and historical backgrounds of digital games. He also gives an insight into the work on his new game. The PLAY Show ist hosted by Uke Bosse.

The Red Shadow is returned and Hamburg is in danger again! Will he finally succeed to bring apart space and time with his quantumbomb? Just a handful brave agents can stop this supervillian now!

In this third and final episode of “Explosive Gefahr” (Explosive Danger), participants have to save the world again. Trapped in a container with a tireless ticking timebomb, they have just 20 minutes to disarm it. Solve tricky puzzles in the spare light of a flickering flashlamp and decide your final fate with the mother of questions: the red or the green wire?

The team of Gamestorm Berlin creates, next to other game culture projects, escape the room games and is experimenting with effects, actors and strange locations. Before this sixth game, they already designed games in musty cellars, libraries, other containers and even a moving van.

Every 30 minutes, a team of four persons can try to stop Red Shadow.
