Krillbite Studios, Norway (2014)

Among the Sleep is a first person horror, in which you play as a two year old child. After being awoken abruptly by some mysterious sounds, you search the oppressive darkness for security and shelter. The game explores horror through vulnerability and fear.

Daniel Ernst, Netherlands (2013)

Blocked in is the first in a sequence of diorama’s: For a moment you are going to step into a world in which time has no meaning and the impossible will bring about the end of the world. Sit down, look around and enjoy your view of the end of the world in this intimately detailed “appartment room that is being blocked in by enormous Tetris blocks while they destroy the world” diorama.

Here, being in a virtual space is a full experience in itself – Interactivity is used to enhance the sense of presence, not solve a puzzle or reach the end of a level.

Daniel researched the possibilities of narrative through illusions in his graduation and worked on the Overlord games and Cargo Commander. In addition, he taught art and design at the University of the Arts (HKU) and founded The Shoebox Diorama in 2013.

Daniel Ernst, Netherlands (2014)

Der grosse Gottlieb is the second in a sequence of diorama’s: This one places the visitor on the tower of chairs of the greatest acrobat that ever lived: Der Grosse Gottlieb. Gottlieb built his tower of chairs to reach the stars and try to leave his his aching heart behind.

Jack de Quidt, William Pugh & Dominik Johann, UK + Deutschland (2015)

Tigers can be a problem. You’ve got options here. You could dive into the bushes and try and follow them as close to the mansion as possible, but bushes are one of tigers’ natural habitats. You might have more luck climbing onto the roof of the pavilion and luring the tiger into a guard patrol. You could always try and swipe a tranq gun from a guard, but… it’s hard to be stealthy while being chased by a tiger. .
